Postcards of Terre Haute - Greetings (1)

This postal card stamped in Terre Haute on September 10th, 1879, has no other printed text.

Before the introduction of picture postcards people used these postal cards for short notes. This postal card was used in 1879, it wasn't until 1898 that the Star Printing Company printed the first picture postcard of Terre Haute.

Leather postcards were banned by the U.S. Postal Service in 1909 so they were only made for a very short period of time (from approximately 1900 - 1909) and are now pretty rare.
